My name is Kana Sonoda and I am an international exchange student from Japan. My major is English and I am taking English teaching courses at my university in Japan. I am going to stay and study here for two semester. The reason why I am taking this class is that I would like to be an English teacher in Japan. In this class I want to learn about the American education and compare it with the Japanese one. I am especially interested in two following things: how to motivate students to join class more actively and how to teach other languages effectively. After my stay for two semester here, I am going to go back to Japan and go to high school for practice teaching. I'm so excited for it.
My hobbies are listening to music, going out for driving and cooking. I especially like jazz music and I play the piano and the flute. I am trying to practice jazz piano now and I am going to audition for jazz piano next semester. As for driving, I used to go for drive with my friends when I was in Japan. I have already been to Providence and Newport in two weeks since I came here and I really liked waterfire at Providence. I want to go to Boston and NewYork soon. I also like cooking. My mother is good at cooking, so she used to show me good cooking. I want to cook some Japanese dishes for my friends here and learn about how to cook American dishes.
